In today’s LA Times, the Nation section, on page 17, in an article written by Nicholas Riccardi, who obviously isn’t of Irish heritage, entitled “Deportation of student stirs up city”; the Author’s bias is so obvious it is almost sickening.
I guess he is writing to a 5th grade mentality, because of the way he writes and how he slants the story.
In order to appreciate this story, I think a little background is appropriate.
Roswell, New Mexico is a town of about 45,000 people.
The average home sells for about 230,00,a lot less than in Orange County, California.
They have more than twice the crime rate than the average American City.
That includes Murder, Rape, Robbery, and Assault.
The average cost of educating students is $4,483 compared to the US average of $6,058 and California of about $10,000
Interestingly, their Students per Librarians are less than half the national average. Does that mean they don’t read English Books?
They declare themselves as 70% Republicans and 30% Democrats. Obviously that doesn’t reflect the Mexicans, or the Illegals.
Is that because the Mexicans can’t vote, since they are primarily illegal, and why the Journalists say it is a Conservative City?
It is Ironic, that the New Mexico Military Institute is located in Roswell.
Every thing that School stands for is a direct contradiction of what is taking place in the politics of Roswell, New Mexico.
But then those that attend that Institute, and have attended that Institute, such as Roger Staubach, and Sam Donaldson, amongst others, were not native to Roswell.
The Military Academy is called: The West Point of the West.
The Family of the Hiltons are also considered Alumni.
It is of special interest to me that only 360 People of the entire population of Roswell, New Mexico, claimed they were born outside the United States.
A Pattern of lying?
There are 9,209 Students attending school in Roswell, New Mexico in grades 1 through 12.
More than 50% don’t graduate.
70% are supposed to be Latinos.
The Senior Class of Roswell High School consists of 213 Students.
I have to wonder, how many are Latinos or Hispanics, and how many are pregnant?
The Author states, “Local Police Forces are being pressured to Crack Down on Illegal Immigrants.
Does that mean it was okay to ignore Criminals before?
Illegal Migrants are Criminals, you know, and they complicate their Criminality by obtaining false documents, such as False Social Security Documents, and Drivers Licenses, and other False Documents, they are complicating their situation by committing Felonies, such as Perjury.
By the School Superintendent calling for a Meeting of all the Authorities, excluding the Federal Authorities, such as the Attorney General and the Immigration Authorities, does that mean he is running the Show?
Is all the Participation by the Education People because of the Local,State,and Federal Funding for Education?
I think whats happening in Roswell, New Mexico, the Home of Demi Moore, and John Denver, is typical of what is happening in the entire United States.
The Basis Premise should be: If its Illegal in the beginning, its Illegal all the way through, and in the End.
Face it, accept it, and Deal with it.
Since when do Law Enforcement Officials look the other way, when Crimes are being committed?
My analysis, observations, comments, and response follows:
A Sworn Officer, a member of the Roswell, New Mexico, Police Department, assigned to the Roswell High School (evidently they only have one) as a Security Officer (why they should need a full time Police Officer stationed at a single High School in a small town doesn’t say much about the Student Body) who as a Sworn Officer carries a Gun for obvious reasons, while on patrol in his Police Vehicle, observed an 18 year old parked in a No Parking Fire Lane, dropping off another student.
The Police Officer pulled the vehicle over in the school parking lot, interviewed her, and discovered she had no Drivers License. The newspaper article didn’t say whether she had any proof of insurance or valid registration.
During the investigation, the Officer discovered the Student was in the United States Illegally.
The article doesn’t comment on why the girl wasn’t arrested, or whether a Citation was issued, or whether the vehicle was impounded.
The author does reveal that the 18-year-old girl was pregnant.
By revealing the student was pregnant, I think the author was attempting to engender sympathy, not disappoint or disgust, that another Bonus Baby was being denied birth in the United States, Citizenship, Free Birth and Medical Treatment, and a host of Welfare Programs, such as Food Stamps, Housing, SSI,TANF, and Medicaid.
And of course 16 to 20 years of free education at American Taxpayers expense, and the opportunity of continuing the cycle of having another illegitimate baby while a student at some level of the educational experience.
The author does reveal that the pregnant student, worked part time along side her Mother who is also an Illegal.
The author doesn’t reveal whether the Mother was also arrested and deported.
The author also doesn’t comment on whether the Employer and owner of the Fast Food Restaurant were arrested for employing 2 Illegals, or how many other Illegals are employed at the Restaurant.
The author doesn’t discuss whether both the Mother and Daughter used fake Social Security Numbers, which is a Felony.
Evidently, none of the above is pertinent.
The author does however, describes Roswell New Mexico as being a “Conservative City” which I suppose is intended to disparage the population of the City and imply that Conservatives are mean-spirited and prejudiced. Maybe even Racist, since he states that 44% of the population are Latino, while 60% of the Students are also Latino.
